Quarry tile for Pizza Making?
Q. I saw Alton Brown's Good Eats on Pizza making last night, and he recommends a Quarry Tile in place of a Pizza stone due to the fact it's much cheaper. I went to Home Depot today and the person didn't know what I was talking about, so I did a bit more research. From what I've read, Terra Cotta Floor Tile works fine, so I'm wondering.. Is this good to use? Safe? Wont kill me?

Where can I purchase 6 or 8 inch Hexagon shaped ceramic tile?
Q. Looking for full size Hexagon quarry tile in 6 inch, 8 inch or 10 inch overage size. Not the little pieces that are grouped together.

A. Those tend to be commercial tiles done through special ordering. Any large tile manufacturer or supplier should be able to provide them, but you'll likely have a hefty setup charge and a minimum order that may exceed your needs. If you're looking for a small quantity, contact a local or regional tile maker. The Washington DC Metro Authority recently changed to newer 6 inch hexagonal tiles. If you contact them, they may be able to tell you the manufacturer. Try here for an idea of what you'll need to do: Good Luck!

lino over quarry tiles--removal??
Q. i have found lino glued onto red quarry tiles in my kitchen--i want to get rid of the lino but only if its possible to remove the glue schlapped on to hold that lino down-- can a lay person do this? is there a chemical out there to remove the glue safely or is this idea a lost cause? i would have to do this myself DIY and at minimum cost. thanks for any sound advise

A. Quarry tiles are very hard and are resistant to scratching and most chemicles, try using white spirit to dissolve the glue.
