Is laminate ceramic tile better than the real thing?
Q. I was watching "designed to sell" and in a kitchen they put laminate ceramic tile that would snap together.

Removing laminate tile adhesive from hardwood floor.?
Q. After pulling up the old laminate tiles in the kitchen I found there to be hardwood floor underneath. I think the hardwood floor would be very nice to keep if there was a way to get the adhesive off the wood without damaging it. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Cannot use stripper as there is pets and children in the house.

A. Without using chemicals, I'd have to say just renting a floor sander and starting with a coarse grit. Paint stripper wouldn't remove the glue anyway. And sanding is just as messy, even if not as smelly. The dust can cause respiratory problems all by itself. Best thing is move the family to your mom's or to a hotel for a couple of days while you resurface the floor...

Which flooring is better to upgrade to: wood laminate or ceramic tile?
Q. Trying to save money because my wife and I want to upgrade the kitchen and bathroom. Want to know the pros and cons of each and which adds more value to your home. If we go with the wood laminate, we would put tile in the laundry room, kitchen, and bathrooms.

A. Ceramic tile is more permanent, more durable and more expensive to install. Wood laminate is warmer (feeling), durable as long as it doesn't get wet, cheaper to install and looks good. It's really up to your tastes. My wife and I just bought new tile for the bathrooms and picked out the new laminate for the hall and bedrooms. Rest of the house has tile/carpet. If you sell your house, some people are going to like your color choices and flooring choices and some are not. As long as you don't pick something unusual, pick a weird color or pattern, or mix and match your colors badly you will do just fine.
